ABSTRACT
A Organização Mundial de Saúde estima que, entre a população mundial, um a cada dez casais sejam inférteis1. Pesquisas atuais apontam que o impacto do diagnóstico é maior para o casal quando a infertilidade é referida ao homem. Esta pesquisa qualitativa, orientada pelo referencial da psicologia analítica, buscou compreender simbolicamente a infertilidade masculina. Para tanto, foi realizado um encontro com um casal em processo psicodiagnóstico para fertilização assistida, ao qual foi solicitada a construção da Linha do Tempo, a fim de possibilitar a extensão da análise e compreensão mais ampla do processo vivido. Ao homem desse casal, foram também solicitadas produções expressivas (desenho da árvore, temático e livre), posteriormente analisadas com base na técnica de amplificação simbólica baseada em autores comoFurth2 e Van Kolck3. Ao que se refere à masculinidade, pôde-se observar o conflito vivido entre o moderno (ser um homem sensível, acolhedor e carinhoso) e o arcaico (ser um homem de poder e sucesso). A infertilidade significada como vazio e buraco traduz a força de um ideal a ser alcançado, um papel de homem hegemônico, a paternidade biológica entendida como porto seguro desta possibilidade de realização. Traduz também todas as virtualidades, as potencialidades daquilo que o preencheria ou que passaria por sua abertura. Relaciona-se com a espera, o novo, o desconhecido, a súbita revelação de uma presença, a fertilidade.
According to the World Health Organizations estimates, one in every ten couples in the world population is infertile1. Current research shows the impact of the diagnosis to be greater for the couple when infertility affects men. This qualitative research followed the referential system of analytical psychology, aiming to understand symbolically masculine infertility. For doing this, a meeting was carried out with a couple involved in a psycho-diagnostic process for assisted fecundation in which they were asked to construct a Time line for allowing the extension of the analysis and a broader understanding of the process experienced in life. We also asked the male subject some expressive productions (tree drawing, thematic drawing and free drawing), subsequently analyzed using the technique of symbolic amplification based on authors suchas Furth2 and Van Kolck3. As regards maleness, it was possible to observe the conflict between being a modern man (to bea sensitive, welcoming and affectionate man) and an archaic one (to be a man of power and success). Infertility signified as emptiness and hole translates the force of an ideal to be reached, a role of hegemonic man, being biological paternity understood as a safe haven for this possibility of self-realization. It translates also all virtualities, potentialities of that which would fill out or would pass through his opening. It is connected to expectations, newness, strangeness, the sudden revelation of a presence, that of fertility.
